Pulmonology is a branch of medicine that deals with diagnoses and treatment of ailments of respiratory system. Common disorders treated by pulmonologists include pneumonia, asthma, tuberculosis, COPD, emphysema, and chest infections.

When a person develops symptoms such as difficulty in breathing, or persistent cough, blood stained sputum, unexplained weight loss, and trouble in exercising; he /she must immediately see a Pulmonologist.

Allergy

Allergy is defined as hypersensitivity of the immune system to foreign elements (allergen) of the environment. Types of Allergy

Food Allergy: Allergies triggered from certain foods are manifested in the form of swelling, nausea, itching, fatigue etc.

Seasonal Allergy: Allergy which occurs due to season change pronounced in the form of cold and hay fever.

Anaphylaxis: It is a severe allergic condition that may cause breathing difficulty, light headedness, loss of consciousness. Such allergic condition needs immediate medical intervention.

Skin Allergy: When our skin comes in direct contact with the allergen, allergic symptoms get manifested on the skin. Different types of skin allergies are as follows:

  1. Rashes: Most common expressions of allergy wherein the skin get irritated, red, or swollen. It can be painful or itchy.
  2. Eczema: Patches of skin become inflamed and itch or bleed, it is called Eczema
  3. Contact dermatitis: Red, itchy patches are developed on the skin immediately after a contact with an allergen.
  4. Hives: Red, itchy, and raised welts of various sizes and shapes develop on the surface of the skin.
  5. Itching: Irritation or inflammation is visible on the skin.
  6. Burning: Skin inflammation leads to discomfort and stinging sensations on the skin.
