Pathology

Pathology primarily deals with the causes and effects of diseases and injuries. He usually carries out four types of tests to know the cause, mechanisms of development (pathogenesis), structural alterations of cells (morphologic changes), and the consequences of changes (clinical manifestations). Haematology is the study of diseases that affects the blood and its components, such as blood cells, haemoglobin, blood proteins, bone marrow, platelets, blood vessels, spleen, and the process of blood coagulation. Certain blood related diseases are haemophilia, blood clots, bleeding disorder and blood cancer such as Leukaemia, multiple myeloma, and Lymphoma.

The job of Haematologist includes observing blood films and bone marrow slides under the microscope and interpreting the test results. After diagnosing the cause, they offer treatment to the subsequent ailment and disorder. Usually, haematologist and haematopathologist work together to diagnose the disease and deliver proper therapy. They also perform blood transfusion, bone marrow transplantation and stem cell transplantation.
